Purpose of the job:
As a Software Engineer with a focus on Java backend development, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure applications that meet client expectations for functionality, quality, and timely delivery. While Java and the Spring Framework will be your primary tools, you will also leverage other relevant technologies as needed to ensure the best possible outcomes for each project. Your role will involve adhering to the company’s best practices and methodologies, producing necessary documentation, and collaborating closely with other team members and clients when required.
Main Responsibilities:
- Backend Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java, Spring Framework, Spring Batch, and JPA (Hibernate / Spring Data).
- Implement messaging solutions using RabbitMQ or Kafka.
- Build and maintain RESTful web services to support frontend and external integrations.
- Work with multiple databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) to ensure efficient and secure data handling.
- Apply design patterns and follow OOP principles to produce clean, reusable, and maintainable code.
- Coding and Methodology:
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient backend code following industry best practices.
- Contribute to and follow established coding standards and guidelines.
- Perform and participate in peer code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Apply Agile methodology practices and participate actively in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Module Delivery:
- Deliver backend modules on time according to project plans and quality standards.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless integration of backend and frontend components.
- Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications and implement accordingly.
- Technology and Innovation:
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in Java, Spring, and related backend technologies.
- Explore and evaluate new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance backend development processes.
- Adopt cloud technologies, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices patterns where applicable.
- Maintenance and Support:
- Maintain and enhance existing backend applications, ensuring performance, scalability, and security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including database and integration-related problems.
- Apply security best practices in every phase of the development lifecycle.
- Client Interaction and Documentation:
- Assist in gathering and refining client requirements for backend systems.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design diagrams (UML) and API specifications.
- Engage with clients or stakeholders to provide updates, clarify requirements, and address technical concerns.
- Testing and Quality Assurance:
- Conduct unit and integration testing of backend components.
- Work closely with QA teams to ensure backend systems meet performance, reliability, and security standards.
- Address bugs and issues identified during testing and production use.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Collaborate with frontend developers, database administrators, and other technical teams to deliver complete solutions.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning, architecture discussions, and problem-solving.
- Share knowledge and mentor junior developers when needed.
Qualifications:
- Degree in IT or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Java backend development.
- Hands-on experience in application and database design.
- Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, and UML.
- Experience with Git, Maven, CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, messaging systems, and unit/integration testing.
- Familiarity with Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB databases.
- Knowledge of frontend frameworks (jQuery, Vue.js, Angular, React) and web technologies (HTML, CSS) is an advantage.
Nice to have: Cloud experience, Spring Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker.
