Purpose of job:
As a Business Intelligence (BI) Lead, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of Business Intelligence solutions that help the business make informed decisions. You will guide the BI team, work closely with business users and technical teams, and ensure that BI solutions are delivered on time and meet business requirements.
Main Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor the BI team, providing technical guidance and support.
- Assign and monitor work to ensure projects are completed on time.
- Review team deliverables to ensure quality and consistency.
- Encourage knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team.
BI Solution Development
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and BI solutions.
- Oversee the creation of reports using Jasper Reports and dashboards using Power BI or other BI tools.
- Support the development of applications using Microsoft Power Apps where required.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
Data Modelling and ETL
- Design and maintain data models to support reporting and analytics.
- Develop and oversee ETL processes to ensure accurate and reliable data.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across all BI solutions.
Performance Improvement
- Monitor and improve the performance of BI solutions.
- Optimise reports, dashboards, SQL queries, and ETL processes to improve efficiency.
Data Analysis
- Analyse data to identify trends, patterns, and business insights.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and understandable way.
Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, data engineers, project teams, and business users to deliver effective BI solutions.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical input where required.
Technology and Innovation
- Keep up to date with new BI technologies and industry trends.
- Recommend improvements and new solutions to enhance BI capabilities.
Documentation and Training
- Ensure all BI solutions are properly documented.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to team members and end users when required.
Testing and Quality Assurance
- Review and test BI solutions before deployment.
- Ensure solutions meet business requirements and quality standards.
Maintenance and Support
- Oversee the maintenance of existing BI solutions.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues related to BI systems.
- Ensure BI applications remain reliable and available to users.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. · A Master’s Degree will be an advantage.
- At least 5-7 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a related field..
Knowledge/ Skills
- Previous experience leading or mentoring a BI team or managing BI projects.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, data modelling, and ETL processes.
- Experience with Power BI, Jasper Reports, and Microsoft Power Apps.
- Good understanding of data warehousing concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
